Brookhaven Science Associates is sponsoring a corporate team of ten to participate in Blessings in a Backpack/ Blessing Across Long Island, Race to Feed.
What is "Race to Feed"?
Blessing Across Long Island plans to feed 1,200 food-insecure students every school weekend in 10 locations this coming school year. The Race fo Feed allows companies to involve their employees in our critical mission and have fun doing it.
- Competition is at the core of the event. 15 teams of 10 employees will race against the clock to fill 96 bags of food in the quickest time.
- The teams will compete in brackets until a final round where the three fastest teams will try to break the record for packing.
- A winning team will gather the trophy, but 1200 children will receive three weekends' worth of food as a result. That's the real victory.
Consider this volunteer position if you enjoy friendly competition, teamwork, and staying active while helping to fight hunger.
- Ability to stand on your feet for the duration of your shift (approx. 2.5 hours).
- Comfortable with bending, reaching, and light lifting (bags may weigh up to 10 lbs).
- Stamina for repetitive movements in a timed, competitive environment and to move briskly between tables/stations.
